9am – 5pm Sunday November 13

Westpac Centre  (AAMI Stadium), 105 West Lakes Boulevard, West Lakes

Imagine over 200 South Australian school children at AAMI stadium battling it out to see who can manoeuvre a LEGO robot they have designed  around a table full of food safety inspired challenges.

FIRST LEGO League is a global program that aims to get students aged 9-16 inspired about science, mathematics, engineering and technology subjects, and it uses robots built from LEGO parts as a focus of the program.

The 2011 South Australian tournament for FIRST LEGO League will be held from 9am – 5pm, Sunday November 13 at the Westpac Centre, AAMI Stadium, West Lakes .  Fiercely striving to impress the judges will be 28 teams from schools and community groups.

Student teams will be judged on the quality of their reseach, the designof their robot, the gracious nature of their competitive spirit and – the exciting visual part – the performance of their robot in completing a set of tasks.

The South Australian program for FIRST LEGO League is supported by BAE Systems as the major sponsor with additional sponsorship and support from SAGE, the South Australian Government and the Computers in Education Group of South Australia

There has been considerable demand for attendance at the event and the maximum capacity for audience registrations has been reached.
