Time: 9.30am – 2.30pm

Oracle, in association with CEGSA is running this event for female students and their teachers ( female or male) to encourage girls to consider careers in IT. This session is suitable female students from years 8-11 and their teachers.
Oracle will have guest speakers from Oracle’s ‘Women in Leadership’ program, Human Resources, and CEGSA will be intimately involved with the day’s proceedings covering topics such as The Importance of Technology, Women in Technology and Career Pathways. The day will include a demonstration of Alice 3. Alice is an innovative 3D programming software created by Carnegie Mellon University and funded by Oracle Corporation. Alice helps create an environment where a student’s first exposure to computer programming is successful. We anticipate that there will also be a hands-on area where students can explore Alice during the demonstration and at break times. The day will be cost free to the teachers and the female students involved including lunch. We are anticipating a teacher or two will bring a group of girls from their school. It is suggested the girls can be from Year 8 through Year 11.
Oracle is sponsoring the event at no charge to participants. Lunch will be provided.
Please register for the event early to avoid disappointment. Please indicate the number of students you will be bringing. Please ensure that you register as soon as possible to secure your places.
Please do not hesitate to contact Bronwen Irving if you have any further questions.
