In response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the EdTechSA Conference 2017, Steaming Ahead: Navigating a Digital Future, we invite you to attend a FREE workshop by Bruce Fuda.
You would be forgiven for thinking that the Digital Technologies subject was all about coding – the term favoured by media, business and politicians when talking about the skills kids need to learn to contribute to our technology-driven economy. The Digital Technologies subject in the Australian Curriculum is being implemented across the country, and will involve not only giving kids a chance to learn how to write their own programs, but helping them understand the key concepts of computer science, information systems and data science that have shaped every aspect of our modern lives.
This session explores those concepts, demonstrates ways to make them accessible to students, and shares some resources and activities that you can use in your classroom to help engage and challenge your students.
About the presenter: Bruce Fuda has 13 years experience working in secondary schools, and was a member of the advisory group for the writing of the Australian Curriculum: Technologies. He was the 2016 ACCE/ACS Australian ICT Educator of the Year, and founding President of Information Technology Educators ACT. Prior to his role as a Computing Education Specialist at the Australian Computing Academy, Bruce was acting as the Associate Principal of Gungahlin College, a government school in the ACT of around 1200 students in Years 11 and 12.
