EdTechSA is proud to count Stephen Heppell as a good friend.  He has inspired many SA teachers through his masterclasses, workshops and keynotes at conferences.  Stephen is an English educator who specialises in the use of ICT in education and is recognised as one of the most influential academics in the field of technology and education globally.

What can you say about someone who begins a presentation with photos of his 1907 Kidby oyster smack?

Stephen Heppell has already started you on a journey into a world of possibilities and future vision. He is funny and quite an inspiring teacher. He’s hugely optimistic about the capacity of kids to be challenged, to both absorb and understand complex issues in this period of accelerated technological change. Amazingly he does this with an “eyes on the horizon, feet on the ground” view that resonates with educators world wide

Stephen’s long track record of supporting children in making, creating and programming with their computers, rather than just using them (from Logo and Prolog through HyperCard to Scratch today), has led to a string of constructivist projects that are ongoing today. In South Australia Stephen has shared his wisdom with DECD, Catholic Eucation and Independent schools whilst receiving the benefit of their wisdom at the same time.

How fortunate we are, as part of our “Learning Conversations with Global Thinkers”, to be able to offer you the opportunity to spend an evening with Stephen Heppell on Friday 20 November, 2015 (Week 6).  A 1 hour presentation from Stephen commences at 5.00pm, followed by an hour of conversation, questions, and answers.  After 7.00pm you can enjoy bubbles and nibbles.
